At this weekend’s domestic box office, Alien: Romulus fell to No. 2 behind Deadpool & Wolverine. The Marvel flick reclaimed the No. 1 slot with $18.3 million and a new $577.2 million domestic total. By comparison, Romulus came up just a little short with $16.2 million, which raised its domestic total to $72.5 million. But when combined with its $152.8 million international take, Alien: Romulus’ cumulative $225.4 million worldwide total makes it the third highest-grossing film in the Alien franchise.The only two Alien films that made more money were Prometheus–which earned $403,354,469 worldwide in 2012–and its sequel, Alien: Covenant, which finished with $240.9 million in 2017. Lego Horizon Adventures, described as a “playful and light-hearted” re-telling of Sony’s Horizon: Zero Dawn franchise, will launch on November 14, according to a leak. The game showed up during the Nintendo Direct on August 27, but Nintendo only reiterated the “Holiday 2024” date and did not provide a specific date.Gematsu reported that the PlayStation website’s homepage briefly listed a November 14 release date for Lego Horizon Adventures, though it’s since been updated to remove it. There is said to be a PlayStation State of Play event in September, and some believe Sony could announce the release date for Lego Horizon Adventures then.

Sony’s latest big PlayStation 5 and PC game, Concord, launched on August 23 after an estimated eight years of development. The game did not, however, appear to put up big numbers at release, despite being generally well-received by fans and critics. [Update: Less than two weeks after launch, Sony has announced that Concord will go offline.]On Steam, Concord peaked at 697 concurrent users on launch day, August 23, and has fallen off since. Borderlands 4 was officially revealed during Gamescom opening Night Live this week, and while the teaser trailer was purely a CGI affair, fans immediately began combing through it for clues on what the next game could be about. One of the more popular theories–via X/Twitter users JoltDude139 and UndeadMD–is that Borderlands 4 will see Handsome Jack return, as the brief flash of a Vault symbol in the trailer perfectly matches up with the one that was punched into his face by Lilith in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has responded to that post, and said that the symbol isn’t hinting at Handsome Jack, but rather someone “far more dangerous and sinister” instead.

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed that Xbox Series X display settings are now matched on Series S. That means 60fps is available as an option on the smaller system.On X, Bethesda detailed the visual enhancements as part of Starfield’s August update. While the Rev-8 land vehicle and Shattered Space DLC release-date announcements were the major highlights at Gamescom Opening Night Live, there is more meat on the bone with this new patch. For instance, Starfield players can now select from 30, 40, 60, and uncapped fps options if they’re using a VRR display. Meanwhile, others can choose either 30fps or 60fps, including on Xbox Series S.

Game director Hiroshi Takai said that future Final Fantasies may launch on both PC and console day one.In an interview with GamesRadar, Takai was asked whether future Final Fantasy games will get a day-one PC release.
